suspensions bridges

Suspension bridges are structures designed to span long distances by supporting the roadway with cables. They consist of two tall towers (pylons) connected by massive cables called main cables, which run from one end of the bridge to the other. These main cables are anchored securely into the ground at each end. Vertical hangers connect the main cables to the roadway, transferring the weight of vehicles and pedestrians to the cables and towers. The tension in the cables balances the downward force of gravity, allowing the bridge to withstand heavy loads and span wide waterways or valleys efficiently.
