SURTAVI Trial

The SURTAVI trial was a scientific study that compared two treatments for patients with severe aortic valve disease: surgical aortic valve replacement (open-heart surgery) and a less invasive procedure called transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The goal was to see which method provided better long-term survival and quality of life. Results showed that TAVR was just as effective as surgery for certain patients, with similar survival rates and recovery times. This research helps doctors decide the best treatment option based on individual patient needs and risks.
