Surrogate Motherhood
Surrogate motherhood is a reproductive arrangement where a woman (the surrogate) carries and delivers a baby for someone who cannot conceive or carry a pregnancy themselves. In some cases, the surrogate uses the intended parents' egg and sperm, making her the biological mother. In others, donor eggs or sperm are used. The surrogate makes a legal agreement to relinquish parental rights after birth. This option helps individuals or couples experiencing infertility, medical issues, or same-sex couples become parents. Surrogacy involves medical, legal, and emotional considerations to ensure all parties' rights and responsibilities are protected.
