Suroyo
Suroyo is a modern dialect of the Neo-Aramaic language traditionally spoken by Assyrian and Aramean communities in southeastern Turkey, northeastern Iraq, and northwestern Iran. It is part of the Semitic language family, sharing similarities with ancient Aramaic. Suroyo is used in everyday conversation, cultural practices, and religious contexts, especially among Assyrian Christians. While it has roots tracing back thousands of years, it has evolved over time, influenced by surrounding languages and cultures. Today, efforts are ongoing to preserve and promote Suroyo as a vital aspect of Assyrian heritage and identity.
