Surgical procedure of living-donor lobar lung transplantation
Living-donor lobar lung transplantation is a surgical procedure where a healthy person donates a part of their lung to a recipient in need of a lung transplant. The surgery involves removing a lobe, which is a section of the lung, from the donor, typically from both the right and left lungs, to provide adequate lung function for the recipient. The donor's remaining lung tissue usually grows and adapts over time. For the recipient, the donated lobes are connected to their airway and blood vessels, allowing them to breathe more easily and improve their overall lung function.
