Surgical Clipping

Surgical clipping is a procedure used to treat brain aneurysms, which are weak, bulging areas in blood vessel walls. During the surgery, a neurosurgeon places a small metal clip at the base of the aneurysm to block blood flow into it. This prevents the aneurysm from rupturing or bleeding, reducing the risk of stroke. The clip stays in place permanently, allowing normal blood flow through the brain's vessels. The procedure requires opening the skull (craniotomy) to access the aneurysm and is typically performed under general anesthesia. It's a common and effective treatment for preventing serious brain hemorrhages caused by aneurysms.
