Surface mount technology
Surface Mount Technology (SMT) is a method used to assemble electronic circuits where components are directly mounted onto the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB). Unlike traditional through-hole components that require holes to be drilled, SMT components are smaller and have metal contacts on their sides for easy placement. Automated machines precisely position and solder these components, allowing for more compact, lightweight, and efficient electronic devices. This technology enables high-speed manufacturing and supports the creation of complex, densely packed circuits found in modern electronics like smartphones, computers, and medical devices.
