Surface coils
Surface coils are devices used in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) to improve image quality. They are small electromagnetic coils placed close to the area of the body being examined, such as the head or knee. These coils detect the signals emitted by the body's tissues when exposed to magnetic fields. By focusing on a specific area, surface coils provide higher resolution images compared to larger, general-purpose coils. This targeted approach helps doctors get detailed pictures of the area of interest, aiding in more accurate diagnosis and assessment of conditions.
