Supraventricular Tachycardia

Supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) is a type of rapid heartbeat that starts in the upper chambers of the heart, called the atria. It causes the heart to beat much faster than normal, often over 100 beats per minute, which can lead to symptoms like dizziness, shortness of breath, or a feeling of fluttering. SVT occurs when electrical signals in the heart become abnormal, causing the heart to beat in a rapid, repetitive cycle. While it can be unsettling, many people recover quickly, and treatment options range from maneuvers to reduce heart rate to medications or procedures if needed.
