supersonic jet
A supersonic jet is an aircraft designed to travel faster than the speed of sound, which is about 767 miles per hour (1,235 km/h) at sea level. When breaking this speed barrier, the aircraft creates shockwaves, resulting in a sonic boom. Supersonic jets are used mainly for military purposes and high-speed travel because they can significantly reduce flight times. They feature specialized aerodynamics and powerful engines to handle the intense forces and heat generated at these speeds. Despite their speed, they require specialized infrastructure and are less common today than subsonic jets used for commercial flights.
