Supermajority
A supermajority is a requirement that a proposal or decision must be approved by more than a simple majority (more than half) of votes—to often two-thirds or three-fifths of the votes. It is used in situations where a higher level of agreement is needed to ensure consensus or safeguard important decisions, such as amending the constitution or passing significant legislation. By demanding a supermajority, the process aims to prevent hasty decisions and encourage broader support among stakeholders.
