Supercell composition refers to the structural organization within a supercell thunderstorm, which is an intense, long-lived storm capable of producing severe weather. It features a dominant, rotating updraft called a mesocyclone, around which the storm's updrafts and downdrafts are arranged. This rotation helps sustain and intensify the storm, enabling it to produce large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes. Essentially, supercell composition describes how different parts of the storm work together—bulk updrafts, a rotating core, and surrounding downdrafts—to create a complex, highly organized weather system capable of severe phenomena.
