Superannuation Guarantee

Superannuation Guarantee (SG) is a mandatory employer contribution in Australia designed to help fund an employee's retirement. Employers are required to contribute a set percentage of an employee's ordinary time earnings—currently 10.5%—to a superannuation fund on their behalf. This contribution is in addition to the employee’s wages and is intended to accumulate over time, ensuring a financial cushion for retirement. Employers must meet SG obligations, and contributions are generally made quarterly. Employees can check their superannuation statements to see these contributions, which are protected until retirement.
