Sugarbeet

Sugarbeet is a root vegetable cultivated primarily to produce sugar. It grows underground, similar in shape to a large carrot, and contains high concentrations of sucrose. Farmers harvest sugarbeets, clean them, and extract the sugar through a processing method involving slicing, dissolving, and purifying the juice. The extracted sugar is then refined into commercial white sugar used in food and beverages. Sugarbeets are a major source of dietary sugar worldwide and are grown in temperate regions. They also help diversify agricultural production and reduce reliance on sugar derived from sugarcane.
