Suffocation

Suffocation occurs when the body cannot get enough oxygen to support vital functions. This can happen if breathing is blocked or hindered—such as when airflow is restricted by an object, or when oxygen levels in the environment are too low. Without sufficient oxygen, the body's tissues and organs, especially the brain, begin to fail, leading to unconsciousness or death if not quickly resolved. It’s different from choking, which involves a blockage in the airway, but both can cause suffocation if not addressed promptly.
