SUDEP

SUDEP, or Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, refers to cases where a person with epilepsy dies unexpectedly without an obvious cause, often during or right after a seizure. While the exact reason is not fully understood, it’s believed that seizures may interfere with vital functions like breathing or heart rhythm. SUDEP is rare but is a leading cause of death among people with epilepsy. Managing seizures effectively and following medical advice can reduce the risk. Awareness and regular medical care are important to help prevent SUDEP.
