Sudan (Comprehensive Peace Agreement)

The Sudan Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), signed in 2005, was a treaty that ended decades of civil war between the northern and southern parts of Sudan. It addressed issues like power sharing, wealth distribution from oil resources, and the country’s future, including a referendum on southern independence. The CPA aimed to bring peace, stability, and federal governance, paving the way for South Sudan's independence in 2011. It also sought to resolve conflicts involving other groups and ensure protections for minorities, helping to lay the groundwork for a more unified and peaceful Sudan.
