Subacromial Impingement

Subacromial impingement occurs when the tendons of the shoulder's rotator cuff become compressed under the acromion, the bony part of the shoulder blade. This compression causes pain, inflammation, and limited movement, especially when raising the arm overhead or reaching across the body. It often results from repetitive overhead activities, aging, or bone spurs. Treatment typically includes resting, physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, and in some cases, injections or surgery to relieve pressure and restore shoulder function.
