Subacromial Decompression
Subacromial decompression is a surgical procedure to relieve shoulder pain caused by impingement. When shoulder tendons and bursa tissues become compressed under the shoulder's acromion (a bony part of the shoulder blade), it can lead to irritation and pain. During the surgery, a surgeon removes a small portion of the acromion and may smooth or remove inflamed tissues to create more space. This helps reduce pressure, decreases pain, and improves shoulder movement. The goal is to restore comfort and function to the shoulder, often allowing patients to return to normal activities after recovery.
