Student Growth Percentiles
Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) measure how much a student improves academically over a year compared to their peers with similar starting points. For example, if a student’s SGP is 70, they’ve improved more than 70% of students with similar prior scores. SGPs focus on individual progress rather than just final test scores, providing a fairer way to assess growth, especially across different skill levels or backgrounds. They help teachers and schools understand whether students are learning at an expected rate, encouraging continuous improvement rather than just achievement at a single point in time.
