STS-61
STS-61 was a NASA space shuttle mission launched in December 1993 to repair the Hubble Space Telescope, which had a flaw in its main mirror that blurred its images. The shuttle Endeavour carried a team of astronauts and specialized tools to perform multiple spacewalks and fix the telescope in orbit. The mission lasted about nine days, during which they successfully corrected the mirror's shape, restoring Hubble’s ability to capture clear, detailed images of space. This mission significantly improved our understanding of the universe and showcased the importance of targeted, in-orbit repairs for scientific equipment.
