Strychnine

Strychnine is a potent toxic substance derived from the seeds of the Strychnos nux-vomica tree. It acts as a stimulant to the nervous system, specifically blocking the inhibitory signals that normally regulate muscle contractions. This causes uncontrollable, severe muscle spasms and seizures, which can be fatal. Historically, it was used as a pesticide for rodents, but due to its high toxicity, it’s now rarely used and strictly regulated. In small doses, it can be highly dangerous, emphasizing the importance of handling it with care and respecting its toxic nature.
