Structured Literacy

Structured Literacy is an evidence-based approach to teaching reading that emphasizes explicit, systematic instruction in the core skills needed for decoding and comprehension. It focuses on directly teaching phonology (sounds), phonics (sound-letter relationships), morphology (word parts), syntax (sentence structure), and semantics (meaning). This approach uses clear lessons, sequential steps, and practice to help learners develop strong foundational reading skills, especially benefiting those with reading difficulties such as dyslexia. Its goal is to make reading instruction predictable, organized, and effective for all learners.
