Structural Plasticity

Structural plasticity refers to the brain's ability to physically change its structure in response to experiences, learning, or injury. This involves the formation of new neural connections, the strengthening or weakening of existing ones, and sometimes the growth of new neurons, particularly in certain areas. These changes enable the brain to adapt, learn new skills, recover from damage, and optimize its functioning throughout life. Essentially, structural plasticity makes the brain a dynamic organ capable of reorganization and growth based on our activities and environment.
