Strokes Gained
Strokes Gained is a golf statistic that measures a player's performance compared to the average. It evaluates each shot based on how much it improves or worsens your position relative to a typical golfer. For example, if you make a putt that’s better than average from that distance, you gain strokes; if you miss it, you lose strokes. This metric helps identify strengths and weaknesses across different parts of your game—such as putting, approach shots, or off-the-tee—by showing how much better or worse you perform compared to the average player in each category.
