Strobilation
Strobilation is a process by which certain jellyfish and cnidarians reproduce asexually. In this process, a main body called the "strobila" develops from the adult, and it segments into smaller, individual organisms called ephyrae. These ephyrae then detach and mature into new adult jellyfish. Essentially, strobilation is a form of cloning that allows the organism to produce multiple offspring quickly, aiding in population growth. It involves a layered, segmented growth pattern that resembles stacking or slicing, which is where the term "strobilation" (from the word "strobila," meaning layered or segmented) comes from.
