Strength of Association

Strength of association refers to how strongly two variables are related, indicating the likelihood that a change in one is associated with a change in the other. A strong association means the variables are closely linked—when one changes, the other tends to change in a predictable way. Conversely, a weak association suggests little or no consistent relationship. This concept helps researchers determine the potential significance or impact of a relationship, but it does not prove cause and effect on its own. Strong associations provide stronger evidence to explore further, often guiding decisions and understanding in research.
