Strange Situation experiment

The Strange Situation is a research method used to observe how infants respond to separation and reunion with their caregiver. In this controlled setting, a baby experiences brief separations from and reunions with their caregiver, often with a stranger present. These interactions help researchers assess the child's attachment style—how secure or insecure their relationship is with their caregiver. The experiment reveals whether the child feels safe when the caregiver is present, becomes distressed when they leave, and seeks comfort upon reunion. It provides insights into early emotional bonds and their influence on later development.
