Strain gauges

Strain gauges are devices used to measure deformation or change in shape of an object when it experiences force or load. They work by sensing tiny changes in electrical resistance that occur as the material stretches or compresses. When attached to a surface, any strain (stretching or shrinking) alters the gauge’s resistance, which can then be measured to determine the amount of strain. These measurements help engineers monitor stress in structures, ensure safety, and improve design. Strain gauges are precise, reliable, and widely used in fields like aerospace, civil engineering, and manufacturing.
