STP (Standard Temperature and Pressure)
Standard Temperature and Pressure (STP) is a set of agreed-upon conditions used in chemistry to compare gases. It typically means a temperature of 0°C (273.15 K) and a pressure of 1 atmosphere (atm). At STP, one mole of an ideal gas occupies a specific volume—about 22.4 liters—making calculations and comparisons easier. These conditions provide a consistent reference point for scientific experiments and measurements involving gases, ensuring that results are comparable regardless of where or when they are conducted.
