story vs. discourse

The "story" is the actual sequence of events that happen—what occurs, who it involves, and when. It’s the raw content or narrative itself. "Discourse," on the other hand, is how that story is presented or communicated—through language, structure, tone, and perspective. Discourse shapes how we interpret and experience the story, influencing emphasis and understanding. In essence, the story is the "what happened," while discourse is the "how it’s told."
