Storegga
The Storegga Slide was a massive underwater landslide off the coast of Norway around 8,000 years ago, when much of the seabed suddenly shifted and slid down the continental slope. This event displaced huge amounts of water, creating a series of large waves known as tsunamis that impacted nearby coastal areas, including parts of the UK and Norway. The slide was caused by natural processes like tectonic movements and sediment buildup. It is one of the largest known submarine landslides and provides important insights into how underwater geological events can influence sea levels and coastal hazards.
