Stjerneborg
Stjerneborg is an early astronomical observatory built in 1649 by the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe near his planetarium, Uraniborg, on the island of Zealand. It served as a dedicated space for precise star measurements, featuring underground and above-ground chambers for observing celestial objects without atmospheric disturbances. Designed to improve the accuracy of astronomical data, Stjerneborg reflects Tycho Brahe’s commitment to meticulous observation before the advent of telescopes. Today, it stands as a historical site, showcasing 17th-century scientific pursuits and innovations in astronomy.
