Stinging cells
Stinging cells, called cnidocytes, are specialized structures found in creatures like jellyfish, corals, and sea anemones. These cells contain tiny, harpoon-like structures loaded with venom. When a prey or threat touches the cell, it triggers the harpoon to shoot out, delivering venom that can stun or kill small animals or defend the organism. This rapid, built-in weapon helps them capture food or protect themselves from predators. The stinging cells are an efficient survival tool, enabling these aquatic animals to effectively hunt and defend in their marine environments.
