Stigmata of Francis

Stigmata of Francis refers to the phenomenon where Saint Francis of Assisi, the 13th-century Christian monk, is believed to have experienced wounds corresponding to those Jesus Christ received during crucifixion—namely in the hands, feet, and side. These wounds, called stigmas, appeared on his body spontaneously and were often considered signs of his deep spiritual connection and imitation of Christ's suffering. While some interpret the stigmas as mystical or miraculous, others view them as a profound expression of faith and devotion. The phenomenon has been reported in a few others and remains a significant spiritual symbol within Christianity.
