STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) testing
STI testing involves examining a person for infections spread through sexual activity, such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, and others. Tests may include urine samples, swabs from genital areas, the throat, or rectum, or a blood test. The goal is to detect infections early, often before symptoms appear, to prevent health complications and reduce transmission to others. Testing is straightforward, usually quick, and may be part of routine sexual health check-ups. Regular testing is recommended for sexually active individuals, especially if they have multiple partners or different partners over time.
