Stent technology

A stent is a small, mesh-like tube made of metal or a special alloy that’s inserted into a narrowed or blocked blood vessel, typically in the heart, to keep it open. During a procedure called angioplasty, doctors place the stent at the site of the blockage, where it provides structural support to ensure blood can flow freely. Modern stents often have a coating that helps prevent the artery from becoming blocked again. They are a common and effective way to treat clogged arteries, improving blood flow and reducing risks associated with heart disease.
