Stent-assisted Coil Embolization
Stent-assisted coil embolization is a minimally invasive medical procedure used to treat brain aneurysms—bulges in blood vessels that can rupture. A tiny tube called a catheter is threaded into the brain, guiding a stent (a small mesh tube) to support the weakened vessel wall. Coils are then inserted through the catheter into the aneurysm, filling it to prevent blood flow and reduce rupture risk. The stent helps hold the coils in place and reinforces the vessel. This technique combines mechanical support with targeted filling to effectively treat complex aneurysms while minimizing damage to surrounding tissue.
