STEM OPT Extension

The STEM OPT Extension is a program that allows international students who have completed a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) to extend their work authorization in the U.S. for an additional 24 months beyond the initial 12-month Optional Practical Training (OPT). To qualify, students must work for an employer enrolled in the E-Verify system and follow specific reporting requirements during their extension period.
