Stem cell mobilization

Stem cell mobilization is a medical process that encourages stem cells—special cells from the bone marrow capable of developing into various blood cells—to move from the bone marrow into the bloodstream. This is typically done to collect these cells for transplantation, often for treating cancers like leukemia. Doctors use medications such as granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) to stimulate this movement, making it easier to gather enough stem cells through blood draws. Once collected, these cells can be stored and later used to replace damaged or diseased blood cells in the patient's body.
