Steelhead Trout

Steelhead trout are a type of rainbow trout that migrate from freshwater rivers to the ocean before returning to spawn. They are known for their silvery appearance and can grow quite large, often over two feet long. Unlike their freshwater counterparts, steelhead spend part of their life in saltwater, which influences their size and coloration. They are valued both ecologically and recreationally, thriving in various North American and coastal ecosystems. After maturing in the ocean, they return to the streams where they were born to reproduce, completing their life cycle.
