Statutory Instrument
A Statutory Instrument (SI) is a type of legal rule or regulation made by a government authority, usually a minister or government department, under powers granted by an existing law (called an Act of Parliament). SIs are used to fill in details, update, or implement specific aspects of the law without needing a new law to be passed by Parliament. They are an important part of the legislative process, allowing for efficient and flexible governance. Once made, SIs typically have the same legal force as primary legislation, but they are usually easier to modify or withdraw.
