Status Consistency

Status consistency refers to the alignment between an individual's social positions, such as their occupation, education, and income levels. When these aspects are aligned—meaning someone with a high-status occupation also has a high income and education—they are considered to have high status consistency. Conversely, if these aspects don’t match—like someone with a high-paying job but low education—they have low status consistency. This concept helps us understand how social advantages or disparities are maintained within society, highlighting whether various social indicators reinforce each other or create notable mismatches.
