States of Jersey
The States of Jersey is the island’s government, responsible for making laws, managing public services, and overseeing the economy. It operates as a parliamentary democracy, with elected representatives called Deputies, Constables, and Senators. The government handles areas like healthcare, education, transportation, and finance, while Jersey maintains its own legal and tax systems, separate from the UK. The aim is to serve residents’ needs, promote economic growth, and ensure good governance, all within Jersey’s unique status as a Crown Dependency, which means it isn’t part of the UK or the UK’s EU membership but is under the British Crown.
