State of Chu

The State of Chu was an ancient Chinese kingdom that existed during the Spring and Autumn (770–476 BCE) and Warring States periods (475–221 BCE). Located in what is now central and southern China, Chu was known for its rich culture, powerful army, and distinctive artistic achievements, such as elaborate bronze ware and poetry. It was one of the major states competing for dominance before China was unified under the Qin Dynasty. Chu played a significant role in Chinese history, contributing to philosophies, warfare strategies, and cultural development, and its legacy continues through historical texts and archaeological finds.
