state and local CILs
State and local Centers for Independent Living (CILs) are community-based organizations that support individuals with disabilities in achieving independence and inclusion. They provide resources such as advocacy, peer support, education, and skills training. CILs work to empower people to live independently, access services, and participate fully in their communities. Funded through government and private sources, each CIL tailors its programs to meet local needs, helping individuals navigate challenges related to mobility, employment, housing, and social integration. Essentially, CILs aim to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities by promoting autonomy and self-determination.
