START triage system

The START (Simple Triage and Rapid Treatment) system is a method used by emergency responders to prioritize patients during a mass casualty incident. It quickly assesses individuals based on their ability to walk, breathing, apparent severity of injuries, and mental status. Patients are categorized into four groups: those who can walk (minor injuries), those needing urgent care, those with serious but treatable injuries, and those with injuries likely incompatible with life. This system helps responders efficiently allocate resources, ensuring the most critically injured receive prompt attention.
