Starling's Law of the Heart

Starling’s Law of the Heart states that the strength of the heart's contractions depends on how much blood stretches its chambers before they contract. When more blood fills the heart (during filling), the heart muscles stretch more and, in response, pump out a greater volume of blood. Essentially, the heart adjusts its force of contraction based on the amount of blood it receives, maintaining an efficient balance between blood intake and output. This mechanism helps the heart adapt to changes in blood volume, ensuring effective circulation without overexertion.
