Starchild
A Starchild is a rare constitutional anomaly where a person has a small, extra bone or cartilaginous structure located in the area of the second and third metacarpal bones of the hand, typically near the base of the middle and ring fingers. It is a benign variation in hand anatomy, often hereditary, and usually has no impact on hand function. The presence of a Starchild is identified through X-rays and does not require treatment. It is simply a normal anatomical variation, much like extra toes or fingers in some individuals.
