Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin

Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin is a toxin produced by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, which can cause food poisoning. When food is contaminated with this bacteria, especially if it’s not stored properly, the bacteria can produce this toxin. Consuming food containing the toxin can lead to symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea, often within a few hours. Importantly, even if the bacteria are killed during cooking, the toxin can remain active. Proper food handling, hygiene, and refrigeration help prevent contamination and toxin formation.
